Project Summary

This villa in Djerba, was designed to suit the lifestyle of its owners, a couple who frequently entertained guests. It features a series of parallelepipeds, each defining a specific function. The entrance porch, a perfect cube, marks the transition to the lower world, akin to a Skifa, a traditional Tunisian architectural element serving as a transitional space from the street to the interior. This cube invites and signals a pause before entering the living room, which acts as the heart of the interior, resembling a patio. The double-height living room also offers views from the bedroom to the outside. The villa’s life revolves around the living room, dining room, and garden with its pool.

Spread across a 3000 m² area, the villa is organized and developed along a stone wall that winds through the garden, organizing the entire villa from the entrance and garages to the bedroom. The wall also separates technical and secondary spaces from common areas and accompanies circulation axes. It supports the stairs, with steps embedded in the stone, each independent of the others.

The double-glazed facade of the living room, spanning a double height, is partially concealed by a concrete portico. This facade is shaded in the late morning, allowing for outdoor contact without significant solar impact. The pool is entirely black, with just a yellow line to capture sunlight and extend the swimming season beyond summer.
