spring pavilion

Location: Zaghouan, Tunisia
Project Duration: 2023
Status: Completed

Project Summary

The spring pavilion, nestled in the heart of the garden, embodies a true symbiosis with the surroundings. Divided into two distinct parts.

The first part of the pavilion, made of rammed earth, is the result of a collaborative workshop led by the indigo club of the School of Architecture in Sidi Bou Said in July 2023. Rammed earth, a traditional construction technique involving compressing moist earth into wooden molds, was used to create this authentic structure. Students and architecture enthusiasts were thus able to experiment with this artisanal method while learning the fundamental principles of rammed earth and contributing to the construction of the pavilion.

The second part of the pavilion is currently under construction using poured earth and adobe of various sizes. The use of poured earth allows for greater flexibility in design, while adobe adds a rustic and warm touch to the ensemble.
By combining these two construction techniques, the spring pavilion offers a unique space where art, architecture, and nature harmoniously converge, inviting visitors to reconnect with the earth.
